TODAY'S SAFETY TOPIC: A HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT

It is the responsibility of all Employees & Management to ensure that the workplace is free of any type of behavior that could be perceived as uncomfortable or hostile.

An hostile environment is described as an atmosphere sufficient to alter the conditions of employment and create an abusive working environment.


Anyone who feels they have experienced or witnessed any behavior that could be considered hostile should report it.

TODAY'S SAFETY TOPIC: SEXUAL HARASSMENT

  • Sexual Harassment is when unwelcome sexual advances are made toward another person. A construction company was reprimanded because one of their male workers whistled at a group of women in a far off distance.

  • Sexual Harassment can include, but is not limited to, requests for sexual acts or favors, repeatedly asking another for dates or any other unwelcome verbal or non-verbal conduct of a sexually suggestive and/or harassing nature.

    Anyone who feels they have experienced or witnessed any behavior that could be considered sexual in nature should report it immediately.

TODAY'S SAFETY TOPIC: HARASSMENT


Any person who feels their right to work in a harassment-free environment has been violated should report it immediately.

Harassment or bullying at work can be very stressful and a person can experience significant mental and physical health problems that can completely destroy confidence, cause financial problems due to absence, post traumatic stress disorder, sleep disturbances, phobias, increased depression/self blame, digestive problems and their abilities crumble to the point where they do not have the self-belief to get a job anywhere else.
1. DO NOT SUFFER IN SILENCE.
2. SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE
3. KEEP A DIARY OF EVENTS
4. CONFRONT THE CULPRIT
5. REPORT IT TO YOUR EMPLOYER
6. FURTHER FORMAL ACTION & SUPPORT
Remember, behavior like this has no place in the workplace!

TODAY'S SAFETY TOPIC - DISCRIMINATION

We do respect the rights of our employees to work in a safe environment and in peace and harmony. Any racial, ethnic or religious jokes or slurs, or making anyone uncomfortable as a result of one's comments or behavior, verbal or non-verbal will not be tolerated. The culture of an individual should never be the subject of a joke. Favoritism or unequal treatment of employees of a different culture or discrimination of any kind is forbidden.


This notice is to be taken seriously. Anyone found in violation of our discrimination policy can be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination. We expect all of our employees and managers will treat all people with courtesy and respect.

Remember, behavior like this has no place in the Workplace!
